Cannon County fell to 0-2 after losing to the York Institute in the Jungle Friday night. Despite the light drizzle, the Lions maintained fan support throughout the game and offered some thrilling moments to please the crowd. Receiving the ball at the kick off of the second half, Tony Harris (30) brought the crowd to their feet with a runback that looked like it was going all the way to the end zone but he was stopped after powering through the arms of several York tacklers.
Cannon County moved the ball for nearly 170 yards during the game and the Lions offense was punctuated with a touchdown pass from Josh Seng (1) to Melvin Young (6) who provided extra yardage after the catch to score the Lions only Touchdown. Kevin Walkup (82) added the extra point by punching the ball through the uprights. Earlier, Walkup also displayed an impressive offensive block that had to make number 12 of York leave the field wondering if he had been hit by a truck.
All and all, the Lions did well. York is always a challenge and they had some big plays that gave them a little over 300 yards offense. The game ended Cannon 7 York 27.
